I have been riddled with this for 2 weeks now. I feel stuck right now and it’s registration time. I used a Charter school curriculum and though I liked it it lacked Christ and that is probably why it was a battle before I gave up and dumped her in a “great Christian school.” I am worried about pulling her out because she loves it and I do not want this to backfire or reflect badly or put her back in any way. I am going to look into these things you ladies have used. Not that there will not be ups and downs. I will have preschool and 2nd grade next year and I know we can do it luckily my daughter is way better a student than I am a teacher since I scramble with a curriculum. I am desperate to find something new for homeschooling that is not so regimented and works for us. I have seen them put my sweet sweet daughter’s little fire out several times and that turns my furnace up! Yes I have gone toe to toe with them 2x now and I am ready for a 3rd. (I still have much to learn) I also enrolled her in an Awana program (she is 6) I still have a problem with school’s and it just fries me that even a private school is so legalistic. HUGE red flag! School taught her more about God and Jesus than I could have. I could not be more proud she’s amazing but She trusts school over her parents now. she flowed right in and her A+ and S+ are all she brings home on the report cards. I just put my daughter in Christian private school after homeschooling for half the year. We plan to continue using all of these next year as well. We use My Father’s World Curriculum, along with Saxon Math, and Apologia science as well as reading countless classical literature books. Then last week he finally decided that he likes me being home and he prefers my company to the babysitter. At the beginning of my time at home my youngest would tell me how he preferred the babysitter to me. Then my youngest son is starting to read three letter words. It has been a struggle for him as he struggled with some neurological issues for a while. Our biggest success was that my oldest son was finally able to grasp reading. It was my first year to get to be home as main teacher instead of my husband and I sharing the responsibilities (PTL for growing my husband’s business to this point). We experienced ups and downs as well as frustration and joy, but overall I think it has been a good year. If you homeschooled this year – how did it go? Is there anything you loved and would like to recommend? Share it with us! Tomorrow I’ll share pictures of us doing school at home. (if you are reading this in an email or feedreader – click here to view the video) Since the video from Part 3 has changed, I thought I’d make an updated video about our homeschool changes this year (including some samples of what Classical Conversations School work looks like) and the one change we plan to make for next school year. Part 5 – Sheltering Children and My Experience in Public Schools Part 3 – Our Daily Homeschool Schedule and Curriculum – we have changed curriculums this year – the updated video below explains it all! Last spring I did a 5 part video series with some of our thoughts on homeschooling. We also used the “Rod and the Staff” English, Grammar, Phonics and Handwriting curriculum and Saxon Math Workbooks. Then we went to the cafeteria for lunch! Alex and his buddies! The kids LOVED getting to play here every week!! When class ended at noon the children went to play on some indoor slides (inside the church where we meet) for 30 minutes. Weekly 2 Minute Presentation Alexis really improved by the end of the year! Weekly Science ExperimentĮach week all the students did a 2 minute presentation on an assigned topic. All of the mothers attend and stay with their children. Some of the subjects we covered in class were history, geography, latin, math, grammar, anatomy, geomotry, music, art, and science. After looking over the curriculum – we were excited to join! This group divided into 4 classes after opening sessionĮvery Tuesday for 24 weeks my children attended this class from 9am-12pm. But then we heard of this amazing group of homeschoolers in our area that meets weekly – and they were doing a curriculum called Classical Conversations. For our first 2 years of homeschooling we used a curriculum called K12. Last August we embarked on a new homeschooling journey. If you're not sure, here are the top 4 reasons you might have to create an Architecture portfolio. Otherwise, you'll end up with a portfolio that is disjointed and clumsy – something that will be more than apparent to your audience. Every image, every line, every word will be dictated by your purpose. The answer will provide the foundation for everything you do moving forward. It may seem like a simple question, but the reason you actually need to create a portfolio is probably the most important question you must understand above all. STEP 1 / IDENTIFY YOUR WHY WHY DO YOU NEED AN ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO? If you're seeking the path to an epic portfolio, you've come to the right place. Here we'll take a closer look at just what it means to build a portfolio that matters. At the same time, an advisory board at a University may insist upon a physical binder with copies of your work inside. A human resources department at a firm may require digital only submissions that you provide through an online portal. The requirements you have for your portfolio may change between purposes entirely. They can be completely digital, completely analog, or some combination of the two. Like people, portfolios come in all shapes and sizes. You can learn a lot about yourself in the process of creating a portfolio, just as you can understand more about your peers if know how to ‘read' theirs.Ī good portfolio will justify why it exists, but a great portfolio will introduce someone to who you are. Whether you're looking for a new job, a new college, or a career change within the profession of architecture, your portfolio is one of, if not the most important, devices you have to establish yourself to others.Īn Architecture Portfolio is simply a document that conveys the story of your professional experience through imagery, text, composition, and format. ‘Finding Your Purpose,' focuses specifically on laying the foundation, defining the reasons why you're creating the portfolio in the first place, and the initial steps you can follow to make sure your portfolio is a triumph. Part III / Producing Your Epic Architecture Portfolio Part II / Developing Your Content Strategy Part I / Finding Your Purpose (this post) “Definitive Guide to an Epic Architecture Portfolio” Each part will take you through the process of how to successfully build your portfolio from the ground up. This article is the first entry in a special three-part series entitled, ‘The Definitive Guide to an Epic Architecture Portfolio.' These posts have been written by guest writer, Michael LaValley of Evolving Architect. Artists like JoJo and Def Leppard were some of the first to have gone through similar routes as Swift in an attempt to own their music. Swift’s undertaking to re-record her masters has received a lot of public attention, but there have been other artists before her who have attempted to do the same. Having the ability to determine who uses her music is a huge reason as to why Swift wants to own her master recordings. Therefore, both Swift and Big Machine Records had to approve licensing rights for her music to be used in film, which proved to be difficult for the parties to come to agreements on who to grant the licenses to. They first need a sync license, which must be approved by the songwriter, plus a master use license, which is granted by the owner of the master recording. For a song to be used in film, the filmmaker needs two different licenses. Swift was running into issues with Big Machine Records, as she and the record label had different ideas on where and how they wanted her music to be heard. Swift wants the ability to not only hold the copyright to her music, but also own the master recording so that she can control the distribution and promotion of her music. But, Swift does not own the musical composition of her songs, as these rights belong to the producers who create the master recording. Additionally, Swift owns the copyright to her music because she writes her own lyrics. Swift can currently re-record all of her past albums with the exception of Reputation, as Reputation was released in 2017 and it has not been five years since the original release. Swift is legally able to re-record her masters after a number of years because of the re-recording clauses in her contracts with Big Machine Records. One question of debate has been if Swift is even entitled to re-record her masters. On April 9 th, 2021, Swift released her first re-recorded master album, Fearless ( Taylor’s Version). Now, in an effort to gain ownership of her past music, Swift has now been on a mission to re-record her master recordings. Just when Swift was about to release Lover, Ithaca Holdings LLC announced it sold Swift’s master recordings to Shamrock Holdings for around $300 million without Swift’s knowledge. Swift outwardly condemned this transaction, as she never was offered to purchase her master recordings, something she repeatedly asked Big Machine Records to consider. Just one year after Swift signed with her new record label, Big Machine Records was bought by Ithaca Holdings LLC for just over $300 million, with Swift’s discography accounting for an estimated $140 million of that. The agreement between the parties allows Swift to own all of the master recordings she makes from now on. After Swift’s Sixth studio album came out, Reputation, Swift and Big Machine Records were unable to come to a new deal and thus, Swift entered into a new contract with Republic Records and Universal Music Group. However, Swift was able to keep the copyright to her songs as long as she wrote the lyrics. When Swift was just fifteen years old, she signed a record deal with Big Machine Records which conveyed the ownership rights of the first six albums Swift produced to the label. Additionally, contracts between artists and record labels usually contain clauses that prohibit artists from re-recording their music until two to five years after the original release of the album or when the contract between the parties ends. While Swift is not the first artist to re-record her masters, she certainly is paving the way for future artists to be more assertive and demanding when making contracts with record labels in order to ensure artists have more say in their masters and maybe even fully own them as well. Typically, these contracts give the record labels ownership of the master recordings, along with the ability to control the manufacturing, distribution, and promotion of that recording. Artists, like Swift, tend to sign contracts with recording labels who turn the artists’ musical compositions into the master recordings, which are then copyrighted by the label. Why would Taylor Swift (“Swift”) be re-recording her past work? Well, the answer is simple. With the upcoming release of Taylor Swift’s re-recorded album Red ( Taylor’s Version), on November 19 th 2021, Swift fans are getting ready to experience this album all over again just nine years after the original release of the album. To answer the question, birds fly South in Winter because they would freeze or starve to death if they didn’t.ĭespite the previous paragraph, I did find The Tao of Pooh to be an enjoyable read and there were plenty of good points made by Hoff that did give me pause for thought. I’m all for going with the flow, but were it not for curious minds investigating and examining the world around them, then we’d be in a much sorrier state today. I have to take issue with this as Hoff runs the risk of seeming quite anti-intellectual, if you can call knowing why birds fly South in winter to be the mark of an intellectual. He goes into more detail by saying that, if you asked a scientist why birds fly South during the winter, they’d say it’s just their instinct, the implication being that scientists explain without actually knowing. However, a few times Hoff seemed to be saying that this means we shouldn’t strive to understand the world but simply go with it. There’s certainly a lot of wisdom to be had in this way of thinking, and many problems, slights and worries are indeed the product of an overworked mind. Sure, much of Taoism revolves around not trying to resist the flow of the world, and there’s certainly a lot to be said for that, but at certain points I couldn’t help but feel Hoff came across as somewhat arrogant in how he presented Taoist ways of thinking.įor instance, there is an element of Taoism that encourages people not to over think things. I understand that I’m unlikely to agree with every point a entire religion makes, but there were a handful of moments where I couldn’t help but feel Hoff began to feel biased towards saying Taoism’s way of looking at the world is the correct way, and that those who choose another path are making a mistake. While I did overall enjoy my time with The Tao of Pooh, I will admit that I took issue with certain points the book makes. While I’ve read a number of books on Buddhism, Taoism was quite new to me and, while I don’t go along with all the points this book made, I did at the very least find it interesting, and there were certainly more than a few nuggets of wisdom I was left to ponder on. The idea of breaking down a complex topic such as an entire religion by explaining it to beloved children’s characters is certainly a novel one, and this is an excellent starting point for anyone looking to learn more about Eastern philosophies.ĭespite being non-religious myself, I have always been interested in theology and I’ve always been particularly attracted to Eastern philosophies. 2010 - Free Talk Live - Politics & News CategoryĬredit to PodVader for coming up with this simple solution to honor our legacy shows.2011- Feast of Fools / Fun - LGBTQ Category.2012 - Manager Tools - Business Category. 2015 - This American Life - Arts Category.2015 - The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe - Science and Medicine Category.2015 - Rob Has a Podcast - Entertainment Category.2015 - ESPN: Fantasy Focus Football - Sports Category. 2015 - Coverville - Podsafe Music Category.2017 - The Majority Report - Politics & News.2021- The Fantasy Footballers - Sports Category. The People's Choice top Award has been renamed to honor one of the Podfathers of Podcasting. Radiator Fan– Your Ranger’s radiator fan pushes extra air onto the radiator when the engine coolant gets too hot.Radiator– Pulls heat from the coolant before it cycles back into your Ranger’s engine.Thermostat– The thermostat opens up once the engine reaches operating temperature and allows coolant in. The coolant starts in the radiator, enters the engine, pulls heat out of the block and heads, and returns to the radiator to be cooled again. Water Pump– Your Ranger’s water pump pushes the coolant through the entire system.Your Ranger’s cooling cycles engine coolant from the engine through the radiator. If your Ford Ranger is overheating, the first thing you should do is check the coolant level. A blown head gasket, engine block, or cracked head are much more expensive than a thermostat or water pump. Ignoring an overheating engine can lead to serious engine problems.
